McKenna + Nick | Intimate Destination Wedding in Reykjavik, Iceland

I had the ultimate pleasure to travel out to Iceland to capture McKenna and Nic's destination wedding in Reykjavik, Iceland. It definitely is the ultimate photographer's dream to not only adventure outside the country with a couple but to go to one that is infamous for it's landscapes and Northern Lights.

Nic and McKenna both had decided they wanted to do a destination wedding when they first got engaged, and Iceland sounded like a pretty fabulous idea. They invited their immediate families and closest friends to join them on their adventure.

It was a quiet morning, and like I've said in the past, I always love walking into the getting ready room of a bride and it's peaceful. Music was playing low, girl chatter filled the little VRB's walls and everyone was so at ease and ready for the big day. McKenna is a local fashion blogger, so I knew her decisions on what she was accessorizing her dress with were going to be thoughtful and genuinely her. Nic was super nervous to see her, took him about 3 tries to get his tie JUST right before the big moment of the first look. I reassured him that it would be PERECT and that McKenna looked stunning. It was literally one of the most endearing first look of all time with the most beautiful backdrop Iceland could give us. There were tears, giggles and big bear hugs. The best beginning to a packed day of love, laughter and a new journey.

When I capture destination weddings, I always recommend having a day after adventure session where my clients will get back into their wedding attire, and we go out and get more bride and groom portraits so we can take in ALL that the location has to offer. Unfortunately Iceland had a little different plan for us when it came to the weather, but before the rain hit - we found an AMAZING road that was off a beaten path. I swear it lead to a land that made us feel like we were on a completely different planet. We were surrounded by the coolest lava fields - where bright green moss covered every inch, as far as our eyes could see. To be as careful as possible, we made sure to take out time weaving through the green moss, not to disturb the nature that takes decades and decades to grow.

Even though we weren't able to go out to the super trendy parts of Iceland for our day after session, this was more than perfect to grab their lovely adventure portraits and I couldn't have been happier on how they turned out.

Enjoy my favorite moments of McKenna and Nic's Icelandic wedding weekend!
