I’m Cait
Seattle elopement and family photographer with a love for travel, good books and constantly looking for the next best donut.
I spent the last 8 years primarily shooting weddings. After having my son, my priorities and needs changed. I craved being around others that I could relate to, especially as a new member of this particular village. I started capturing families and mothers a lot more and I noticed a shift in my heart. This is where I needed to be. Motherhood has changed my heart in many ways and now I find more connected to the art I am creating as I lean into what is more familiar to me. I took a a very long pause in my career to slow down and determine what I truly wanted to capture. I kept coming back to families and womanhood. So, here I am :)
However, I am still very much drawn to weddings and have felt more compelled to continue shooting nuptials in a much smaller way. One of my favorite milestones to capture are elopements, specifically within the urban walls of the city. I like to capture 10-15 courthouse elopements a year. Elopements are a perfect slice of the cake for me. I love helping couples decide on their attire, creating mood boards and scouring the city for epic spaces to capture their portraits.
Photos tell a story. And not just one story, but they bring together the prologue and epilogue of someone’s life. They take a moment that ends up fading in our memory over time and preserves it. There is a reason why when we end up going through old photo books, we find ourselves exclaiming “Oh my gosh I totally forgot about this!” And then the memory is back like we had never forgotten. We sit there, reminiscing over a simpler time - joy in our hearts, tears in our eyes, reaching over to embrace the ones with us. If it weren’t for photos…could we truly remember a moment as it were?
Caitlyn was an absolute dream to work with during our engagement shoot and also the day of our wedding - everything turned out even more perfect than we could have hoped for.
